This is care for a filling that has fallen out, cracked, or come loose. Fillings can wear down over time from chewing, grinding, or new decay around the edges. When one fails, the tooth underneath is left unprotected.
Dr. Mejia examines the tooth and removes any remaining old filling material and decay. The tooth is then restored with a new tooth colored composite filling that's shaped to your bite and polished smooth. If the tooth has significant damage, a crown may be the better option, and we'll explain why.
A missing or broken filling leaves the inside of your tooth open to bacteria, sensitivity, and new decay. Replacing it quickly protects the tooth and keeps a small problem from turning into a bigger one, like a crack or infection. It also makes chewing comfortable again.
